Companionway.  Replaced plywood companionway boards with 3/4" solid teak, modified from a Catalina.  On port aft cabin, Sailcomp controls are mounted directly under Autohelm K-meter, and just above depth sounder.  Over bow is Fort George in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario---home of Hinterhoeller Yachts, builder of the Redwings.

Tiller.  A few years ago, while playing in the whirlpools upstream in the Niagara River, I "found" the foundation to the old Lewiston-Queenston Bridge while traveling 13 knots over the bottom in a 7 knot back eddy.  Needless to say, it destroyed the rudder and snapped the tiller.  I replaced the rudder with an eliptical rudder I made, giving better downwind control.  New rudder is the same surface area as the largest of 4 rudders designed for the Redwing by C&C/Hinterhoeller.  As the original 1 1/2" rudder stock bent in the incident, I went to a 2" rudderstock and Harken rudder bearings.  This necessitated replacing the rudder tube from cockpit to hull.  The tiller I laminated out of 18 pieces of ash.  Tiller yoke is gold plated, and never needs polishing.  With these improvements, I was able to fly down the lake at 10 Knots, with chute up, and enjoy dinner.
Over the winter of 2004-2005, we redid the cockpit.  New non-skidsole, repaired scratches & dings, and awlgripped.
